Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles
Toyota has generously provided four of its prototype Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles (FCHVs) to UCLA Transportation. While these vehicles might look like regular Toyota Highlanders, they are actually powered by some of the latest technology in the field of alternative fuels.
Beginning in October, these vehicles will be part of a pilot carpool program for UCLA employees. UCLA commuters within specific geographic areas will be invited to enter a lottery for one of the carpool spots. These lucky lottery winners will receive:
- Use of a Toyota Highlander FCHV (shared among four carpoolers)
- A free carpool parking permit
- Free fuel for the vehicle
This means that, during your participation in this project (a term of approximately three months), you will not have any out-of-pocket cost for your commute to UCLA.
