Walk Your Wheels in UCLA's Dismount Zones

Dismount Zone

Wheeled devices provide convenient and sustainable transportation options for Bruins traveling across campus. However for the safety of pedestrians, there are certain areas where bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and rollerblades must be dismounted and walked through the area.

As seen on the map below, those dismount zones are Bruin Plaza, Bruin Walk, and the Parking Structure 8 corridor. Anyone in violation of the Dismount Zone Policy is subject to a fine by UCPD.

Lyft, Bird, and Wheels electric bicycles and scooters have geo-fenced the areas which limit riders to 1 mile per hour in the dismount zones. Riders can also keep themselves and others safe by following these rules found in UCLA's Electric Scooter Policy:

  • Wear a helmet
  • Ride on the road and out of sidewalks and crosswalks
  • Observe all traffic signals and signs
  • Park in designated areas only and don't block walkways, ADA pathways, or stairs
